hist\u00f3ria desta rubrica fosse uma hist\u00f3ria representativa, sobre a regi\u00e3o em si: o que s\u00e3o os Vinhos Verdes, porque s\u00e3o t\u00e3o pouco falados, porque continuam fora da \u00f3rbita de roteiros tur\u00edsticos. Talvez sejam esses os fatores que os tornam t\u00e3o exclusivos.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"go-article-kicker\">Geografia<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Dois centros urbanos e uma regi\u00e3o adormecida entre eles<\/h2>\n<p>Olhando para o mapa deparamo-nos com um cen\u00e1rio: os Vinhos Verdes ficam entre o Porto e Vigo, cada um com o seu pr\u00f3prio aeroporto internacional. O Porto \u00e9 uma porta de entrada j\u00e1 estabelecida para turistas de v\u00e1rias partes do globo. Vigo, apesar de n\u00e3o se poder equiparar em n\u00famero de chegadas, \u00e9 refor\u00e7ado por Santiago de Compostela e A Coru\u00f1a, ambos ao alcance de quem estabeleceu a Galiza e o noroeste da Pen\u00ednsula Ib\u00e9rica como destino.<\/p>\n<p>A maioria das pessoas que chega ao Porto de avi\u00e3o acredita que o Douro fica mesmo ali ao lado. Se utilizarmos o Pinh\u00e3o como refer\u00eancia, essa viagem tarda 1h40, enquanto a R\u00e9gua est\u00e1 a sensivelmente 1h20. Referencio estes dois destinos por serem ponto de passagem obrigat\u00f3rio a quem visita o Douro vinhateiro.<\/p>\n<p>Noutra perspetiva, Mon\u00e7\u00e3o e Melga\u00e7o, junto \u00e0 fronteira espanhola, a sub-regi\u00e3o mais distante da cidade do Porto, fica a uma dist\u00e2ncia similar. A partir de Vigo, essa viagem \u00e9 apenas de 40 minutos. Mas essa compara\u00e7\u00e3o falha no que realmente interessa. Os Vinhos Verdes t\u00eam nove sub-regi\u00f5es, n\u00e3o uma s\u00f3. Grande parte delas fica mais perto da cidade do Porto do que qualquer sub-regi\u00e3o do Douro. Ave, Amarante e C\u00e1vado: todas a cerca de trinta minutos do Porto. No conjunto, os Vinhos Verdes s\u00e3o simplesmente a regi\u00e3o mais pr\u00f3xima. A diferen\u00e7a em como cada uma parece \"alcan\u00e7\u00e1vel\" tem mais a ver com marketing do que com quil\u00f3metros. Uma regi\u00e3o tem contado bem essa hist\u00f3ria. A outra est\u00e1 a deixar-se descobrir aos poucos. Haver\u00e1 um artigo futuro sobre como estas duas regi\u00f5es se comparam. Por agora basta afirmar que a dist\u00e2ncia dos lugares \u00e9 algo percebido e que, neste momento, 1h40 de viagem para o Douro parece mais pr\u00f3ximo do que 30 minutos para os Vinhos Verdes.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"go-article-kicker\">Diversidade<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Nove sub-regi\u00f5es, nove identidades distintas<\/h2>\n<p>O que distingue os Vinhos Verdes de quase todas as outras regi\u00f5es vin\u00edcolas do pa\u00eds \u00e9 recusar-se a ser uma coisa s\u00f3. Tem nove sub-regi\u00f5es. E digo isto como mais do que um detalhe administrativo. Os Vinhos Verdes movem-se entre serras e costa atl\u00e2ntica dentro da mesma regi\u00e3o vin\u00edcola. Encontram-se vales escarpados que lembram o pr\u00f3prio Douro, socalcos talhados em granito com um rio a correr l\u00e1 em baixo e, a poucos quil\u00f3metros de dist\u00e2ncia, cumeadas expostas moldadas pelo vento vindo direto do mar. Cada paisagem produziu o seu pr\u00f3prio estilo de vinho, a sua pr\u00f3pria comida, os seus pr\u00f3prios costumes, a sua pr\u00f3pria forma de falar, cozinhar e receber um visitante.<\/p>\n<div class=\"go-article-quote\">\n<p>Viajar pelos Vinhos Verdes parece visitar diferentes pa\u00edses dentro da mesma regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"go-article-photo-inline\">\n<div class=\"go-article-photo-inline-media go-article-photo-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"go-article-kicker\">O Vinho<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Um vinho mal apelidado pelo seu pr\u00f3prio sucesso<\/h2>\n<p>H\u00e1 uma pequena ironia que gosto de contar \u00e0s pessoas quando as introduzo \u00e0 regi\u00e3o: o termo \"vinho maduro\", usado em todo o pa\u00eds para descrever qualquer vinho que n\u00e3o seja da regi\u00e3o dos Vinhos Verdes. \u00c9 um r\u00f3tulo estranho, porque todo o vinho, por defini\u00e7\u00e3o, \u00e9 feito a partir de uvas maduras. Vinho faz-se sempre com uvas maduras, nunca com uvas verdes. Mas como esta regi\u00e3o carrega o nome de uma cor, o pa\u00eds precisou de uma palavra para tudo o resto. \"Maduro\" pegou.<\/p>\n<p>Durante muito tempo, Vinhos Verdes significaram uma coisa s\u00f3: vinhos jovens, frescos, leves, para beber no mesmo ano, caracterizados pela sua acidez vibrante. Esse vinho continua a existir e continua maravilhoso, mas \u00e9 apenas um dos in\u00fameros perfis que a regi\u00e3o produz e j\u00e1 n\u00e3o \u00e9 a hist\u00f3ria toda. Os produtores daqui t\u00eam passado os \u00faltimos anos a experimentar: est\u00e1gio em barrica, b\u00e2tonnage, fermenta\u00e7\u00e3o malol\u00e1tica, t\u00e9cnicas que pareceriam fora de lugar h\u00e1 uma gera\u00e7\u00e3o. O resultado \u00e9 claro: estas castas conseguem ir muito al\u00e9m da sua reputa\u00e7\u00e3o. Alguns destes vinhos envelhecem com uma longevidade que convida \u00e0 compara\u00e7\u00e3o com um bom Riesling. Tamb\u00e9m os espumantes da regi\u00e3o t\u00eam ganho mais aten\u00e7\u00e3o, ao ponto de rivalizarem com os grandes espumantes mundiais. De sub-regi\u00e3o para sub-regi\u00e3o, os brancos mudam de car\u00e1cter. Os tintos, ainda raros fora da regi\u00e3o, t\u00eam uma acidez e um perfil sem equivalente no resto de Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>Essa versatilidade importa para al\u00e9m do copo. Ao falar com produtores desta regi\u00e3o percebe-se que uma fatia cada vez maior do que produzem sai do mercado interno para mercados que, h\u00e1 uma d\u00e9cada, pareceriam inimagin\u00e1veis, com Coreia do Sul, Jap\u00e3o, Dinamarca, Noruega, Estados Unidos e Brasil entre eles. \u00c9 tamb\u00e9m a ideia exata por tr\u00e1s das nossas Experi\u00eancias: mostrar que estes vinhos nunca foram feitos apenas para acompanhar a cozinha regional e nacional. Quando bem selecionados, harmonizam com comidas de qualquer parte do mundo.<\/p>\n<div class=\"go-article-photo-inline\">\n<div class=\"go-article-photo-inline-media go-article-photo-2\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"go-article-kicker\">As Pessoas<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Uma regi\u00e3o genuinamente hospitaleira<\/h2>\n<p>As pessoas do Minho t\u00eam uma hospitalidade que n\u00e3o \u00e9 ensaiada. T\u00eam orgulho na sua terra de uma forma que quase toca a teimosia. Defendem-na como se fosse uma extens\u00e3o de si pr\u00f3prias. S\u00e3o espont\u00e2neas, generosas com o seu tempo, r\u00e1pidas a sentar-te numa mesa em fam\u00edlia. Em grande parte, ainda n\u00e3o est\u00e3o prontas para todos os segmentos de turismo que esta regi\u00e3o vir\u00e1 a ter. Muitas das quintas, restaurantes e pequenos neg\u00f3cios da regi\u00e3o nunca tiveram de pensar em receber um certo tipo de visitante internacional, tendo-se adaptado apenas ao turista fronteiri\u00e7o como forma de internacionalizar os seus servi\u00e7os. Isso n\u00e3o \u00e9 uma cr\u00edtica. \u00c9, neste momento, o maior trunfo da regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9 essa desprepara\u00e7\u00e3o que mant\u00e9m tudo genu\u00edno, moldando paisagens que ainda parecem talhadas por gera\u00e7\u00f5es de m\u00e3os, esquecidas pelo tempo, algures entre terra que as pessoas trabalham h\u00e1 s\u00e9culos e cantos que ningu\u00e9m se deu ao trabalho de tocar. Chegar\u00e1 o dia em que isto vai mudar, tal como acontece com qualquer lugar por descobrir.
